Day 1, Friday Arrival
Arrive in Rome airport and meet your driver in the arrival hall. Transfer to your hotel in the heart of Rome. Check in hotel and time at leisure to relax oe start to enjoy Rome on your own. In the late afternoon you’ll meet your Tour Leader for a welcome briefing and review the itinerary. We will then take a short walk to a nearby restaurant where you’ll meet and get acquainted with your travel companions over a wonderful welcome dinner.
Day 2, Saturday Vatican & Heart of Rome
After breakfast, meet your driver and your guide and proceed to the Vatican Museum by private van. You’ll easily enter the Museum with your skip the line tickets. Your visit will be memorable: our guides have drawn up a route to include all the major sights as well as some unexpected surprises. See the Belvedere Courtyard, the Raphael Rooms, and of course the spectacular Sistine Chapel followed by a visit of St. Peter’s Basilica. Once we’re done, you’ll return to your hotel where you’ll have a chance to relax after a busy morning. In late afternoon you’ll meet your tour leader for a walking tour of the Baroque part of Rome, follow the narrow streets of the ancient city, pass through Piazza Navona, enter the Pantheon, see the Spanish Steps and beautiful Piazza di Spagna. We’ll return to the hotel or, if you prefer, just hang around, enjoy an aperitivo and later in the evening have an independent dinner in the very heart of the eternal city. Overnight in Rome.
Day 3, Sunday Rome
Today will be a free day. We strongly believe that it’s important to have time to explore and get to know the city at your own pace. We purposely design each itinerary to allow for free time so that you can truly get to know the city on your own terms. Take time to sit at a cafe, to sip on a cappuccino, stroll along the via Condotti or the via Veneto and live life as a Roman. There are lots of great experiences in the city. Some of our suggested activities are: the exploration of Imperial Rome – the Colosseum and the Roman Forum; the visit of one of the most beautiful art collections in Europe at the Palazzo Borghese. You might want to take a ride out to nearby Tivoli with the astonishing Villa Adriana, built by the Emperor Hadrian and Villa d’Este, a masterpiece of Italian gardening. In this day and age, you can even take the high-speed train to Naples for a pizza. You’re there in about an hour and if you want you can even go to Capri or Pompeii for the day. If wine is your thing, consider going north to Viterbo. There are several wineries in the area, along with wonderful places to stop and have a delicious lunch. Overnight in Rome.
Day 4, Monday Pompeii & Sorrento
Meet your driver in the morning and transfer to Rome Station to board a high-speed train to Naples. You will be in Naples in 1 hour, arriving at the new futuristic station of Naples designed by Zaha Hadid. You’ll meet your driver and continue to Pompeii for a guided visit of the Archeological park and then continue to Sorrento where the rest of you day is free to explore the town.
Day 5, Tuesday Sorrento Discovery
After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a walking tour of Sorrento, visiting the heart of the town: from Piazza Tasso, walking along Via San Cesareo, until your reach Sedil Dominova, once the gathering place for Sorrento’s high society. You will see the lovely cloister, dating from 1300 and an amazing panoramic view from Piazza della Vittoria. This stroll through the town will end with a taste of limoncello liquor in an ancient factory. In late afternoon, you’ll meet your guide at your hotel and start an exploration of the Sorrento countryside. Sorrento is surrounded by a magnificent countryside with lush vegetation, a place where you can smell he flavors of fresh baked breads and experience firsthand a farm to table creation up close. It’s an incredible place if you consider that from every corner you can enjoy the view of the sea and the island of Capri. We’ll then reach a farm house on the hills of Sorrento, owned by a Sorrentine family for the past five generations. The tour includes a trip to the ancient citrus grove and wine cellar where your host, will explain the various stages of production of local wine along with cold cuts of their own production. Afterwards we will walk together through the vineyard, among the olive trees and products of the garden. we’ll taste some typical Sorrentine dishes, prepared with natural ingredients carefully grown on the farm and let’s not forget that every good dinner has to end with a glass of limoncello. Day 6, Wednesday Amalfi Drive
The beauty of the Amalfi Coast is legendary and has inspired hundreds of artists, writers and musicians over the past century. Some say that it’s Italy’s most scenic stretch of coastline, deemed by UNESCO “an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, with exceptional cultural and natural scenic values. Small fishing villages embrace the hillsides or stretch in deep green valleys, along a dramatic coastline, challenging the force of gravity. Your driver guide will lead you first to the town of Amalfi where you will have free time to explore the medieval part of the city with the imposing Dome of St. Andrew and ancient buildings dated from the times when Amalfi was one of the maritime powers in the Mediterranean. Later, you will ascend to Ravello, considered the most romantic and beautiful small towns in southern Italy. Perched on arduous, terraced slopes, the French novelist André Gide wrote Ravello was closer to the sky than the sea. Covered with lush gardens, quiet and sleepy roads, you will find lots of corners providing unforgettable views over the azure coast below. We’ll return to Sorrento in late afternoon where you’ll be able to enjoy an incredible sunset looking out over the sea. Overnight in Sorrento.
Day 7, Thursday Optional Tours Capri or Paestum
Today is a perfect day to relax or take the opportunity to continue the exploration of the magnificent region. You have lots of choices, maybe a visit of Capri, it’s a short boat ride from Sorrento. Visit the Blue Grotto, take a boat ride around the Island and have a great lunch overlooking the sea. It makes for a great day. if archaeology is your interest, take a tour to Paestum to visit an ancient Greek city and see three of the most beautiful Greek Temples outside Greece. This area of Italy was a thriving colony and was known as Magna Graecia. If food is your thing, then head to the countryside to taste the freshly made buffalo mozzarella or explore Amalfi coast by boat.
